At LC Packaging, we value our long-term partnerships with production partners, NGO’s and others. We believe there is always room for innovation and development when it comes to sourcing, designing, manufacturing and establishing after-use solutions for our products and collaborate with partners who can help us do so. In our LC Partner Stories we share projects and initiatives we are working on with our trusted partners.
Next year, LC Packaging will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Looking back at its history, but also forward towards a sustainable future, LC Packaging's new office building had to be a sustainable building with a clear link to the past. To create a new head office and warehouse with more space for working together, logistics, and warehouse, LC Packaging partnered with architectural design agency Quadrant4.
At LC Packaging, sustainable production and consumption are a top priority. With the support of FMO , the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, we have been able to conduct several long-term initiatives to help to sustainably develop and expand our SA 8000 certified production facility Dutch-Bangla Pack Ltd (DBPL) in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has a problem with plastic waste. Every day, thousands of tonnes of waste end up on the streets and in the waters of Dhaka. The Ganges, which opens out into the Indian Ocean in Bangladesh, spits out more plastic waste into the world's oceans than almost any other river. With support from DEG, LC Packaging has set up GreenBANGLA to launch a plastics recycling start-up in Bangladesh.
Together with local partner Grambangla and Childhope UK, LC Packaging has developed a skill development training programme for the waste pickers in the Mutuail Dumping Site in Dhaka, Bangladesh so that they can find employment in decent sectors. LC Packaging supports this project through the LC Supports Foundation.
To turn used big bags into big bags once more, LC Packaging and Starlinger & Co. GmbH have joined forces to develop "circular packaging" for big bags (FIBCs) made from polypropylene (PP) fabric. A unique programme that entails almost all stages of the FIBC-lifecycle, such as manufacturing, usage, recovery, washing and recycling.
