LC Packaging’s FIBC reconditioning and recycling service WorldBag is moving its production from Almere to Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, the Netherlands. This new, central location is closer to LC Packaging’s head office, offers more space for the safe separation of product groups and yields opportunities for expansion. The 2500 m2 production facility houses machinery for cleaning big bags for the purpose of re-use and allows room for the storage and preparation of bags for recycling when their lifecycle has been completed. The move has no consequences for customers using WorldBag services.
Reuse and recycling is becoming an increasingly necessary action, resulting in a rising demand for our WorldBag services. Reusing big bags is an important part of the future circular economy, with significant savings of raw materials as well as resulting in a much lower carbon footprint. Depending on the number of reuse cycles, reuse of FIBCs can lead to a reduction of up to 66% of the bag’s carbon footprint compared to a new FIBC.
Many European governments are working on introducing measures to encourage reuse and the use of recycled content in plastic packaging, such as implementing a plastic tax for example. By reusing packaging as many times as possible, the unnecessary use of natural resources can be limited, allowing us to work together towards lowering our CO2 footprint, lowering the global increase of temperature and preventing plastic from ending up in the ocean. With our closed-loop formula of collecting, sorting, reconditioning, replacing and returning, WorldBag offers a 100% solution.
WorldBag collects used FIBCs from end users all over Europe. After cleaning these big bags, we return them in pristine condition to our customers, ready for the next stage in their life cycle. The reconditioning process meets the highest international standards and consists of sorting and inspection, cleaning, final inspection, and palletisation for transport prior to reuse by the client.
Over the past few years, FIBCs were reconditioned by WorldBag to be reused by companies in various industries. They realised that reconditioning big bags ensures the right balance between a long life span and a smaller environmental footprint. Together we can close the loop!
