In 1981 LC Packaging first ventured abroad: in the United Kingdom. It turned out to be only the start of our global journey, but LC UK is still part of LC Packaging, marking their 40th anniversary this year. Today, LC Packaging UK consists of three offices, including a location in Friockheim, Scotland, serving customers in AGRI, Post & Parcel, Industry and more. Due to COVID-19 an official celebration was put on hold.
LC Packaging UK has been supporting its customers for 40 years now. During this time, we have developed a lot of knowledge and experience in both the manufacture and distribution of packaging solutions as well as its technical aspects. This combined with our passion to keep customers at the center of everything we do, differentiates us in the market.
LC Packaging UK was LC Packaging’s first venture abroad and has seen quite some changes over the years. After restructuring the team is now even more efficient and effective in supporting our customers.
Once a successful venture, LC UK grew significantly with the acquisition of S.G. Baker in 2014 – adding two more offices with adjacent warehouses in Grantham, England and Friockheim, Scotland. Both companies are very much alike. Therefore, it was easy to incorporate S.G. Baker into LC Packaging’s existing operations. Both S.G. Baker and LC Packaging are family owned businesses with a strong focus on quality, innovation, personal approach and long-term relationships with customers, employees and production partners. A perfect fit and therefore a logical decision to continue these operations under one single umbrella.
Today, LC Packaging UK operates from three sites that include storage and production where 50 colleagues work tirelessly to assist customers with their packaging needs. Find all LC UK offices and contact details here.
LC UK prides itself with its close customer relationships. By working together with our customers, we get a deeper understanding on how the products perform during our customers’ processes and the experience of their end-users. Taking that journey together results in the best possible solution being supplied as well as implementing continuous improvement, optimization and harmonization projects. Being able to make a quality product is not good enough if the solution does not match the requirement. Collaboration as partners ensures long-erm issues likely avoided and solved before they happen.
In April 2022, the new Plastics Tax will take effect in the UK. The Plastics Tax is being introduced by the government to encourage the use of recycled material in plastic packaging used in the United Kingdom. The tax will apply to all plastic packaging manufactured in or imported into the UK after April 2022. Packaging that contains a minimum 30% recycled plastic will not be subject to the tax.
In order to provide a bit of background regarding the Plastics Tax, we have summarised the most important facts and implications in this document which is also available for download.
