In a significant stride towards enhancing employee welfare, we started the Employee’s Children Scholarship Programme at Dutch-Bangla Pack Ltd. (DBPL). This scholarship provides crucial financial aid to employees who have children in primary or secondary school (starting class 5) until they complete their Higher Secondary education. The inauguration of this scholarship programme in September 2023, was done in the presence of the Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Thijs Woudstra.
Bangladesh, like many developing nations, faces significant challenges in its education system. High dropout rates, especially among children from marginalised communities, are a persistent issue. Economic hardship often forces families to prioritise immediate financial needs over-investing in their children's education. The Employee’s Children Scholarship Programme aims to decrease dropout rates by facilitating students to remain in school through financial assistance.
With Best People as one of our eight strengths, we know that education serves not only as a pathway to personal success but also as a cornerstone for societal progress. By introducing this scholarship programme, we aspire to give access to education, dismantle financial barriers, and empower the families of our employees. This initiative aligns with out broader commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), as we reaffirm our dedication to creating a world where education is a fundamental right for all individuals, leaving no one behind.
Our ambition for 2024 is to extend this scholarship to all children of our employees at DBPL, with a total of 370 children, as well as a select group of children from the local community who require special attention.
The LC Supports Foundation was established in 2016, has an ANBI status and is a charitable organisation associated with LC Packaging. The foundation aims to enhance the well-being and environment in countries where LC Packaging operates, directly or indirectly. We achieve this by engaging in sustainable projects aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
With our foundation we support long-term initiatives such as SriLankan Hope for Children, Wilderness Foundation Africa, and Happy Kids Daycare. Additionally, the LCSF aims to provide support in times of crisis, such as the floods in India affecting our key partner Maris and its employees.
