LC Packaging has become a member of the 7 Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs), established by UN Global Compact and UN Women. The set of principles offers guidance to business on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community. It is a roadmap for sustainability, innovation and productivity.
LC Packaging is proud to officially commit and to work collaboratively to foster business practices that empower women. These include equal pay for work of equal value, gender-responsive supply chain practices and zero tolerance against sexual harassment in the workplace.
Over the years, LC Packaging has already introduced many initiatives to improve the wellbeing of and promote equality for women, especially in developing countries. We have introduced an equal pay system, provide child care facilities, set up targets to encourage more women in managing positions in developing countries and introduced procedures to eliminate discrimination and harassment, just to name a few.
WEPs are a primary vehicle for businesses to contribute to the gender equality dimensions of the 2030 agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The principles are informed by international labour and human rights standards and grounded in the recognition for gender equality and women’s empowerment, something that all businesses have a stake in and a responsibility for.
